The Town of Gardiner invites residents to attend a Community Forum on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) on Tuesday, April 14 at 7:00 PM at Gardiner Town Hall.

The forum will feature Dr. Jeffrey Seidman of Vassar College, who recently spoke on this topic at a regional BESS program. Dr. Seidman will provide an overview of how battery energy storage systems work, discuss safety considerations, and address why these systems are becoming more common in Gardiner and neighboring communities.

If you missed the March 31st presentation in New Paltz, don’t worry — this forum will cover similar foundational information, with a focus on issues and questions specific to Gardiner. Community members will have the opportunity to learn more and engage in discussion about potential local impacts.

The forum will be held in person at Gardiner Town Hall, 2340 Route 44/55, and via Zoom. All residents are encouraged to attend.
